Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 7, 2026

Thank you for using Flying Lyrics ("we", "our", or "the extension"). We believe in open, respectful software that protects user privacy by default. This Privacy Policy outlines what information is processed and how it is protected.

1. Zero Personal Data Collection

Flying Lyrics does not collect, sell, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII).

• No Account Required: You never need to register an account or provide an email to use the extension.
• Local Configuration Storage: All user preferences (such as selected color presets, Galaxy mode options, custom font preferences, and song timing offsets) are saved exclusively on your local device via standard browser storage APIs (chrome.storage.local or browser.storage.local).
• No Audio or Credential Access: Flying Lyrics never reads or accesses your passwords, payment tokens, or raw music audio streams.

2. Browser Permissions Explained

Flying Lyrics requests only permissions strictly necessary to perform its core features:

• storage: Used solely to save your local configuration settings, themes, and song offset values.
• tabs / Host Permissions: Used strictly to detect song title, artist, and current playback timestamp on supported web player domains (open.spotify.com and music.youtube.com) to accurately fetch and scroll synchronized lyrics.

3. Lyric Data Providers

To deliver real-time synchronized lyrics, Flying Lyrics queries public lyric providers (such as LRCLIB, NetEase, and KuGou) using only the song title, artist name, and track duration. No user IDs, telemetry, or device identifiers are sent with these search queries.

4. Open Source Transparency

Flying Lyrics is open source. You can audit the full extension source code at any time on GitHub: github.com/Crlyzd/flying-lyrics.
